Protein molecules fold to form spatial conformations under the interaction of many non-covalent bonds. There are two types of methods for protein structure determination.

1. The conformation of the protein is determined by X-ray crystallography and neutron diffraction.

2. The conformation of the protein is determined by NMR, laser Raman, circular dichroism, ultraviolet spectroscopy and hydrogen isotope exchange.
