Description

Transfection Reagent for T98G Cells (Glioblastoma Cells, CRL-1690)

Product Information

Description

T98G cell line is a type of human glioblastoma cell line that originated from a malignant brain tumor. Glioblastoma is a type of brain cancer that arises from the glial cells in the brain and is the most aggressive and common type of brain malignancy found in adults. Researchers use the T98G cell line extensively as a model system to investigate the biology of glioblastoma and to develop new therapies for this disease. The cells are used to study the molecular mechanisms of tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis, as well as drug resistance and potential therapeutic targets. The T98G cell line is a valuable cancer research tool because it maintains glioblastoma morphology and is a suitable transfection host. The T98G cell line was established from the brain of a 61-year-old Caucasian male with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Although the T98G cell line exhibits fibroblast morphology and is not tumorigenic, it has a hyperpentaploid chromosome count (polyploidy). CD BioSciences provides transfection kits specifically designed for the T98G glioblastoma cell line.
