Description

The RAW 264.7 cell line originated from an ascites tumor that was extracted from a house mouse (Mus musculus), which had developed a tumor as a result of the Abelson murine leukemia virus. This cell line displays the shape of a monocyte (macrophage), and it also expresses complement (C3) receptors and the H-2d antigen. Raw 264.7 cells may be used for assessing biological responses or as a transfection host. These cells may be helpful for a range of molecular and cell biology studies as well as for clinical investigations into mammalian leukemia. A cell line called RAW264.7 is frequently utilized in studies on the biology of macrophages and inflammation. These cells, which can develop into macrophage-like cells and were taken from a tumor in a male BALB/c mouse, have undergone considerable characterization. Numerous qualities of RAW264.7 cells make them relevant in study. F4/80, CD11b, and toll-like receptors (TLRs), among other surface markers and receptors frequently identified on macrophages, are all expressed on these cells. In response to stimuli like lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or bacterial infection, RAW264.7 cells are also capable of phagocytosis, cytokine production, and activation of numerous signaling pathways. RAW264.7 cells are used by researchers to investigate the mechanisms underlying macrophage activation and polarization, the function of particular chemicals and immune system pathways, and to evaluate prospective anti-inflammatory drug candidates. RAW264.7 cells are a significant tool for improving our knowledge of immune response and macrophage biology.
