Description

Transfection Reagent for PC-3 Cells (Prostate Cancer Cells)

Product Information

Description

The PC-3 cell line was taken from a 62-year-old Caucasian man who had passed away from grade IV prostate cancer. The cancer had spread to his bone marrow even though he had undergone androgen suppression therapy. The PC-3 cells are very good at spreading to other parts of the body and can cause tumors in nude mice. These cells do not respond to androgen treatment and have low levels of testosterone-5-alpha-reductase. They also produce prostate-specific antigen. There are 62 chromosomes in each PC-3 cell, and they have around 20 markers that are commonly found in each cell. However, they do not have the normal chromosomes N2, N3, N4, N5, N12, and N15. Additionally, no normal Y chromosomes were found.

PC-3 cells create many cytokines and growth factors, including vascular endothelial growth factors, fibroblast growth factors, interleukins, and neurotrophic factors. These substances can impact the behavior of the cells in the tumor's microenvironment. Researchers have widely used the PC-3 cell line to study human prostate cancer, since it is one of the most popular cell lines for this purpose. It is used in molecular and cell biology research as a transfection host. CD BioSciences has created a PC-3 transfection kit that is optimized for efficient transfection of PC-3 prostate cancer cells.

It should be noted that our products are for research purposes only. Not suitable for any clinical use.
