Description
NCI-N87 is a type of human stomach cancer cell line from a patient with a specific type of stomach cancer called poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. These cells contain large amounts of HER2 protein that helps the cells grow and divide. Mutations in the TP53 and APC genes, which are common in gastric cancer, were present in NCI-N87 cells. These mutations help cancers develop and worsen over time. Therefore, researchers used NCI-N87 cells to study stomach cancer, including how it grows and spreads, why some drugs don't work against it, and how new treatments target HER2. In addition, the cells are being used to study how TP53 and APC affect gastric cancer, as well as to test new drugs that might help. You can order transfection kits from CD BioSciences to help you study these cells.
