Description

The MG63 cell line is a long-standing and extensively studied human osteosarcoma cell line, originating from a 14-year-old patient with osteoblastic osteosarcoma. These cells have gained widespread popularity as an in vitro model for exploring the underlying molecular mechanisms of bone cancer, and for evaluating the potential efficacy of various therapeutic agents. MG63 cells exhibit many characteristics typical of osteosarcoma cells, including their capacity to form colonies in vitro and generate tumors in immunocompromised mice.

Researchers have investigated several signaling pathways that contribute to osteosarcoma, including the PI3K/Akt, MAPK/ERK, and Wnt/β-catenin pathways, using the MG63 cell line. These pathways are known to be dysregulated in multiple cancer types, and inhibition of these pathways with targeted therapeutic agents has demonstrated promising results in preclinical studies. In addition, MG63 cells have been utilized to assess the effectiveness of various chemotherapeutic agents, including doxorubicin, cisplatin, and methotrexate. Furthermore, scientists have harnessed the MG63 cell line to design and evaluate novel targeted therapies, such as monoclonal antibodies and small molecule inhibitors. With the increasing demand for osteosarcoma research, CD BioSciences provides high-efficiency transfection reagent kits to facilitate the genetic modification of MG-63 cells, thereby enabling efficient and reliable research.
