Description
The H9C2 cell line is a type of rat cardiomyocyte cell that originated from heart tissue during embryonic development. This cell line is commonly employed as a model system for investigating cardiac physiology, pathology, and drug screening. H9C2 cells have the unique property of being able to differentiate into fully developed cardiomyocytes through treatment with different agents, such as retinoic acid or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). They exhibit several features characteristic of cardiomyocytes, including the expression of cardiac troponins and the ability to contract and relax. CD BioSciences provides lipid-based, high-efficiency transfection reagent kits that are optimized for use with the H9C2 rat myocardium cell line.
