Glioma C6 Transfection Kit

C6 glioma cell line is derived from the neural tissue of rat (Rattus norvegicus) glioma and has proven to be a reliable transfection host for brain tumor research. This cell line was isolated by Benda et al. using N-nitrosomethylurea and exhibits a fibroblast morphology. This cell line is commonly used in glioblastoma research. Gliomas are tumors that originate from glial cells and whose characteristics are based on location. Glial cells are responsible for providing nutritional and mechanical support to nerve cells in the brain. According to the Johns Hopkins University Brain Tumor Center, malignant gliomas account for approximately 70 percent of all new brain tumor cases and have a tendency to recur despite aggressive combination therapy. Therefore, new therapies are urgently needed to overcome malignant brain tumors. Research techniques at the cellular and molecular level are a useful tool in the search for appropriate treatments. In addition to being a suitable host for mammalian brain tumor research, the C6 cell line is used in preclinical research as well as in cell and molecular biology applications. C6 cells are known to have glucocorticoid receptors, and they are also a good model for transfection studies.
