Description
Astrocytes are a type of glial cell that make up more than 50 percent of all brain cells. There are two main cell types in the human brain: neurons and glial cells. Neurons are responsible for transmitting nerve signals, while glial cells are responsible for protecting neurons. Any discomfort in the central nervous system (CNS) can trigger a process called gliosis. Gliosis involves the rapid differentiation of glial cells, which provide mechanical support to neurons. However, excessive gliosis is a symptom of various forms of brain cancer. Astrocytes delay the immune system's detection of cancer cells and help enhance their proliferation. Preclinical studies targeting astrocytes can provide valuable insights into molecular pathways that suppress tumors. Preclinical research on astrocytes by transfection is essential for current clinical medical research. In order to facilitate in-depth research, a specific and efficient cell transfection system is essential. To this end, CD BioSciences has developed a specific transfection kit for the astrocyte cell line.
