Description
By introducing the SV40 large T antigen gene to 293 cells, the 293 cell line was converted into 293T cells. With this modification, the cells may express large amounts of viral proteins and engage in exogenous DNA transfection with greater ease. 293T cells are often used as a host in molecular biology and biotechnology research to produce recombinant proteins and viral vectors. They have been extensively employed as hosts in the development of lentiviral vectors, retroviral vectors, and other viral vectors for the delivery of genetic information into cells. 293T cells are reasonably easy to grow and have a high transfection efficiency, just like 293 cells. They are frequently utilized in large-scale bioreactors for the generation of recombinant proteins and viral vectors and can be cultivated as adherent monolayers or in suspension. Numerous biological processes, such as signal transduction, protein trafficking, and gene regulation, have been studied throught 293T cells. They are frequently employed in CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing and other gene editing procedures. Additionally, 293T cells have been employed in cancer research as a model system for analyzing possible cancer therapeutics as well as for researching the molecular underpinnings of carcinogenesis. For this cell line, CD BioSciences provides high-efficiency transfection kits.
