Triazine compounds are often used as the basis for various herbicides, such as melamine (2,4, 6-trichloro-1,3, 5-triazine). Chloro-substituted triazine can also be used as reactive dyes. These compounds undergo nucleophilic substitution reactions with hydroxyl groups in cellulose fibers via chlorine groups, and other triazine sites contain chromophores.
