Total Protein Extraction Kit for Mass Spectrometry

The total protein extraction kit uses a specially formulated lysis buffer and a proprietary rotating column for rapid total protein extraction. The extracted protein can be used for trypsin digestion, followed by mass spectrometry, iTRAQ analysis, biotin labeling, etc.

Mass spectrometry has become a popular method for the analysis and characterization of proteins. Traditional total protein extraction methods, such as RIPA-based reagents, may change the endogenous baseline due to unsystematic protein loss. Some chemicals in RIPA may not be compatible with mass spectrometry and other downstream applications. Thanks to the use of a filter cartridge, the extraction can be as low as 20 μl - a useful feature when the starting material is the limiting factor. Typical yields are 2-8 mg /ml.
