Description

In cruciferous plants, myrosinase (β-mercaptoglucoside glucohydrolase, TGG) degrades glucosinolate to produce toxins such as thiocyanates, isothiocyanates, nitriles, cyanides, or oxazolidin-2-thione, which prevent the growth of herbivores. There are two TGG enzymes, TGG1 and TGG2, that have a redundant function. Cell location: vacuole.
