Description

SPSA1 catalyzes the rate-limiting step of sucrose synthesis from UDP-glucose and fructose 6-phosphate. It plays a regulatory role in carbon allocation in plant leaves. In addition, it is important for the availability of sucrose, which is necessary for plant growth and fiber elongation. SPSA1 is also necessary for nectar secretion. Alias: sucrose phosphate synthase 1,SPS1, sucrose phosphate synthase 1F, SPS1F, sucrose phosphate synthase 5.1,SPS5.1, UDP-glucose-fructose-phosphate glucosyltransferase
