Description

Fractionated ricin lectins (EBL I+II, also known as SNA) are composed of two ricin-related lectins. EBL I+II induces Caspase-dependent apoptosis at low concentrations (nM), leading to typical cell death symptoms in sensitive cells. This effect appears to be independent of the catalytic activity of chain a, but depends on the b chain to which the carbohydrate binds.
