Antibody is recognizing active toxin complex containing both, ricin A and B subunits
Ricin is a naturally occurring protein found in castor beans (Ricinus communis) that acts as an inhibitor of protein synthesis. It's a toxin involved in plant defense. A single ricin chain can inactivate thousands of ribosomes per minute. Chain B facilitates the entry of chain A into the cell. In order to produce an active toxin, both A and B protein chains must be present.
