Description

Cytochrome b559 (Cyt b559) is encoded by the chloroplast genes psbE and psbF and consists of two low molecular mass peptides, α and β, with molecular mass of 9 kDa and 4 kDa, respectively. Among all oxygen-photosynthetic organisms, Cyt b559 is closely related to PSII. In summary, both PsbE and PsbF are important components of PSII assembly, and they may be involved in electron transport mechanisms that protect PSII from light damage.
