Description

Cytochrome b559 (Cyt b559) is encoded by the chloroplast genes psbE and psbF and consists of two low molecular weight polypeptides a and h with molecular weights of 9 kDa and 4 kDa, respectively. Among all oxygen-photosynthetic organisms, Cyt b559 is closely related to PSII. The a and h subunits of Cyt b559 are components of the smallest PSII reaction center complex and are still capable of primary charge separation. In conclusion, both PsbE and PsbF are important components of PSII assembly, and they may be involved in electron transport mechanisms that help protect PSII from light damage. Replacement protein name :PSII reaction center subunit V
