Plant Leaf Protein Extraction and Purification Service

CD BioSciences devoted to plant biology research. We provide our customers with high-quality plant protein extraction and purification services, using salting-out methods, heating methods, and organic solvent methods to separate and extract plant leaf proteins, providing assistance for basic and applied scientific research.

During plant growth, proteins are continuously synthesized in the above-ground stem and leaf cells to support the construction of new cell tissues and organs. These proteins, called Leaves Protein Concentrates (LPC), belong to the functional protein category. CD BioSciences uses a variety of methods to prepare protein from plant leaves. Different extraction methods have different ways and degrees of sample processing.

Sample Type Detail
Herbaceous leaf the leaf is thin and soft, such as mint, Pokeweed, radish leaf, etc.
Paper leaf the leaf texture is flexible and thin, such as Chinese rose, paulownia, hibiscus, sycamore, hibiscus, maple tree, etc.
Leathery leaf the leaf is thick, the epidermal cells are keratinized, and the leaves are tough and bright, such as privet, magnolia, heather, etc.
Fleshy leaf the leaf is fleshy and contains more water, such as sedum, longevity flower, gem flower leaves, etc.

Preparation Method of Plant Leaf Protein

  • Extraction of leaf protein by precipitation method of (NH4)2SO4
  • Extraction of leaf protein by modified acetone precipitation method
  • Extraction of leaf protein by lactic acid fermentation method
  • Separation of leaf proteins by membrane filtration

Application Fields

  • Leaf protein structure and function research
  • Develop food products to improve the nutritional structure of diets
  • Develop products with medical value, such as RuBisCO extracted in the leaf which can be used to treat nephropathy
  • Develop protein fodder products
  • Develop plant nutrient regulator products

Notification for Sample Preparation and Handling

Leaf sample preparation Fresh plant leaves ≥ 1 g
Freeze-dried plant leaves ≥ 200 mg
Sample repetition time ≥ 6

Our Advantages

  • We can try to improve the solubility of the sample protein and reduce the loss of leaf protein.
  • We can reduce the artificial modification of leaf protein during protein extraction.
  • Our services are customized according to the purpose of the customer's utilization and the content of the extracted leaf protein.
