Application

Plant-Derived Papain Purified is useful as the action of papain on leucine methyl ester produces an insoluble polyleucine peptide. Papain breaks down the intercellular matrix of cartilage.

Description

The suspension is provided with 50 mM sodium acetate at pH 4.5. For best results, the enzyme should be incubated for 30 minutes in a solution containing 1.1 mM EDTA, 0.067 mM mercaptoethanol, and 5.5 mM cysteine hcl. Enzyme dissolved after filtration 0.22 micron, strongly recommended before use. Papain is activated by cysteine, sulfides, and sulfites, and stabilizers include EDTA, cysteine, and dimercaptoethanol.
