Biotin is a small molecule involved in a variety of metabolic processes. This ligand forms complexes with affinogens and streptavidins, leading to the strongest known non-covalent protein-ligand interaction. Biotinylated Pisum sativum lectin (PSA/PSL) has the right amount of biotin binding to provide optimal detection properties when using affinity hormone- hrp or chain affinity hormone- hrp couplers. Biotinylated lectins allow for more sensitive detection in ELISA and Western-blotting applications.
