The lectin is specific for oligosaccharides containing α-linked mannose, and the receptor sequence contains an α-focusing residue linked to n-acetylchitosan. Biotinylated Pisum sativum lectin has the appropriate amount of biotin binding to provide optimal staining properties for this lectin. This conjugate contains essentially no unconjugated biotin and is preserved with sodium azide.
