Due to N-linked glycosylation at 9 asparagine residues 19-amino acids are cut of as signal peptide from N-terminus of MEB2,
MEB2(membrane protein of endoplasmic reticulum 2) can sequester excess cytoplasmic iron and manganese into the endoplasmic reticulum, thereby reducing the toxicity of metal ions. It is not necessary for the accumulation of endoplasmic reticulum body components including PYK10.
