Description

LUT5 (beta-carotene hydroxylase) is a heme-containing cytochrome P450 involved in the biosynthesis of lutein. The enzyme is specific for the β-cyclohydroxylation of α - and β-carotene, but has low activity for the ε-ring of α-carotene. Alternative names: Cytochrome P450 97A3, protein lutein deficiency 5, Chloroplast.
