Biotin is a small molecule involved in a variety of metabolic processes. This ligand forms complexes with affinogens and streptavidins, leading to the strongest known noncovalent protein-ligand interaction. The biotinylated lens culinaris (lentil) lectin (LCA/LCH) has the appropriate amount of biotin binding to provide optimal assay properties when using affinity hormone- hrp or chain affinity hormone- hrp couplers. Biotinylated lectins allow for more sensitive detection in ELISA and Western-blotting applications.
