Description

The Lci5 protein is encoded by the nuclear gene Lci5 induced by Chlamydomonas reinhardtii during adaptation to a low CO2 environment. The Lci5 protein is peripherally associated with the stromal side of the thylakoid membrane. In addition, this protein is severely phosphorylated (7 sites, 3 threonines and 4 serine residues, as shown by mass spectrometry) during low CO2 growth or state transition (state 2) in the medium. Microarray analysis showed that the gene is upregulated threefold during adaptation to low CO2 conditions.
