Description

Catalase (EC 1.11.1.7) is a bi-functional antioxidant enzyme encoded by the katg gene. It exhibits catalase and peroxidase activity and provides protection against oxidative stress by neutralizing hydrogen peroxide. This enzyme is found in many bacterial taxa, including cyanobacteria.
