Description

HhoB belongs to the serine type deoxypolypeptidase family and is widely present in bacteria and eukaryotes. The family consists of three related members, HhoB (DegS), HhoA (DegQ) and HtrA (DegP). Studies have shown that Deg proteases have overlapping functions in cyanobacteria and are necessary for photosystem II photoprotection. Furthermore, studies have shown that Deg proteases do not play an important role in in vivo D1 conversion and photosystem II repair.
