Description

Helebrin is a plant cardioside with butadienolide-steroid structure. It is a potent sodium pump inhibitor that blocks the active Na+ efflux and K+ reuptake of this membrane enzyme. Hellebrin is a strong immunosuppressant that inhibits T cell activity much more effectively than cortisol or cyclosporin A.
