Description

Griffonia (Bandeiraea) Simplicifolia lectin II is a dimeric glycoprotein consisting of two subunits of nearly equal size, each with a binding site for a disulfide chain and an alpha - or beta - linked N-acetylglucosamine residue. Unlike other N-acetylglucosamine specific lectins, increasing the number of N-acetylglucosamine residues beyond two does not improve affinity. GSL II has been reported to have a unique ability to recognize α-or β-linked N-acetylglucosamine residues on the non-reducing ends of oligosaccharides. Biotinylated GSL II has the appropriate amount of biotin binding to provide optimal staining properties for this lectin. This conjugate contains essentially no unconjugated biotin and is preserved with sodium azide.
