Description

Green fluorescent protein (GFP) is originally found in the light organs of the jellyfish (Aequorea victoria). It is a naturally occurring fluorescent protein that, when excited by blue or ultraviolet light, emits green light with a maximum wavelength of 509 nanometers. It is widely used in the laboratory as a reporter molecule for labeling and studying cellular and subcellular proteins in living cells, with a wide range of uses. GFP protein antibodies are used in western blotting and ELISA. The molecular weight of GFP protein is 27 kDa. The antibody is directly coupled to soybean peroxidase.
