Description

Galactose-mannan is a polysaccharide composed of mannose skeleton and galactose-side group. They are used in the food industry as stabilizers to increase the viscosity of water. Galactomannan is a component of the cell wall of the mold Aspergillus and is released during its growth. Therefore, clinically, detecting this compound in the blood can be used to diagnose human aspergillosis infection.
