Description

FtsH protease plays an important role in chloroplast biogenesis and thylakoid maintenance. The Arabidopsis nuclear genome contains 12 genes encoding FtsH proteins. In Arabidopsis, three of these gene products can target mitochondria (FTSH3, FTSH4, and FTSH10), while nine other gene products (FTSH1, FTSH2, FTSH5 to FTSH9, FTSH11, and FTSH12) can enter the chloroplast. Synonym: Cell division protease FtsH homolog 9, chloroplast.
