FOX1 is 10-20-fold induced in iron-deficiency and its occurrence therefore serves as a marker of iron nutrition state in Chlamydomonas. For detection image please refer to the article below.,This antibody has been used on Chlamydomonas cells expressing endogenous Fox1 and on HEK293 cells transiently expressing Fox1. Cells are resuspended in PBS plated on poly-lysine coated coverslips, fixed in 3.7% formaldehyde. Blocked in 3% BSA in PBS. 1:500 dilution of anti-FOX1 in 3% BSA. Secondary antibody is anti-rabbit Alexa fluor 488 1:300.
Cupric protein in Chlamydomonas rheinacea is a plasma-membrane ferrioxide enzyme encoded by FOX1 gene and involved in iron assimilation. FOX1 is most closely related to the mammalian homologues hephaestin and ceruloplasmin. Its appearance and expression patterns in chlamydomonas indicate the role of copper in iron assimilation in photosynthetic species.
