Description

FITC is a fluorescent dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light, causing the molecules to be excited and emit a visible yellow-green light. This emission stops when the light causing the excitation is removed. FITC antibodies are used to enhance the specific signaling of FITC-coupled monoclonal antibodies or secondary antibodies. The sensitivity of the FITC hapten-antihapten system makes it a useful alternative to other systems.
