Description

Ferridoxin is an acidic, low molecular weight, soluble ferrithionein found in various organisms. Iron-thionein is defined as a protein that carries iron-sulfur clusters in which iron is at least partially coordinated with sulfur. The protein acts as a multifunctional electron carrier in a variety of REDOX systems. Chloroplast ferridodoxin is involved in cyclic and non-cyclic photophosphorylation of photosynthesis and other reduction reactions in chloroplasts.
