Ferridoxin is an iron-thionein that transfers electrons in a variety of metabolic reactions. It plays a key role in the transfer of photoreducing capacity to Fd-NADP+ oxidoreductase (FNR) to form NADPH, and mediates the circulating electron flow around photosystem I (PSI). Fd2 is the most expressed Fd isoprotein in plant leaves.
