NCBI Protein Information
Signal transduction histidine kinase, hybrid-type, ethylene sensor
NCBI Summary
Similar to prokaryote sensory transduction proteins. Contains a histidine kinase and a response regulator domain. Homodimer. Membrane component. Binds ethylene. Mutations affect ethylene binding and metabolism of other plant hormones such as auxin, cytokinins, ABA and gibberellic acid. Ethylene receptor. Has histidine kinase activity. Is regulated by RTE1. Mutations in ETR1 block ethylene stimulation of flavonol synthesis.

UniProt Comments
Ethylene receptor related to bacterial two-component regulators. Acts as a redundant negative regulator of ethylene signaling (PubMed:15466228, PubMed:15703053). In the presence of ethylene, the auto-kinase activity of ETR1 is inhibited and the non-phosphorylated kinase domain binds tightly to the corresponding domain of EIN2 (PubMed:20591837).
