Description

EPSP synthetase (3-phosphate shikimate 1-carboxyvinyltransferase, chloroplastic) is an enzyme involved in glyphosate metabolism (EC:2.5.1.19). Localized in chloroplast stroma. Catalyzed the 5-hydroxyl transfer of the enolacetone group of phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to shikimic 3-phosphate (S3P) to produce enolpyruvate shikimic 3-phosphate and inorganic phosphate. Alias: 5-enolpyruvyl shikimic acid 3-phosphate synthase.
