Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin found in grains such as barley, corn, oats, rye and wheat. It occurs less frequently in rice, sorghum and triticale. Fusarium (scab) and fusarium, plant pathogens that cause ear rot of corn and wilt of wheat, are related to the occurrence of deoxynivetol. DON is a type B triterpene, an epoxy sesquiterpene. Another name: vomitoxin.
