Sugar Specificity: α-N-Acetylgalactosamine
Datasheet:

Description

Paeonia lectin is isolated from horse leather and purified by affinity chromatography. DBA is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of about 111,000 and consists of four equally sized subunits. This lectin has an isoelectric point between pH 4.6 and pH 5.5. It is carbohydrate-specific for -n-acetylgalactosamine and elutes with sugar GalNAc. DBA has been used as a general marker of renal collector development, and can then be used to determine secretion status by hemagglutination inhibition in individuals with blood type A and to detect blood type. Dbas are more than a thousand times more active in agglutinative blood type A1 cells than A2 cells, are used in routine serological applications to distinguish these blood groups, and have potential applications in examining tumors that affect levels of blood type substances. Reformulated with sterile buffer solution. Calcium, manganese, magnesium and zinc ions are necessary for bonding.
