cytb6/f multisubunit complex is an important component of photosynthetic electron transport chain in higher plants, green algae and cyanobacteria. This complex catalyzes the oxidation of quinoline and the reduction of plastocyanin. This reaction allows the establishment of the proton force required for ATP synthesis. The complex consists of four main subunits: the petA gene product corresponding to the C-type cytochrome (cytf), the petB gene product corresponding to the b /c 'type cytochrome (cyt b6) with three hemoglobin proteins, and the PETA gene product corresponding to the three hemoglobin type. petD gene products (subunit IV or suIV) and petC gene products corresponding to Rieske/ iron/thiopprotein.
