Additional information

The presence of cytochrome c in the cysotol is a marker of PCD (programmed cell death)

Description

Cytochrome c is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. It is a small heme protein, and unlike other cytochrome, it is highly soluble. This protein is an important part of the electron transport chain, which oxidizes and reduces in the absence of bound oxygen.
