Recommended protocol for CO protein extraction Serrano-Bueno et al. 2020. Detection has to be done on a nuclear extract preparation in the evening on a Long Day that is the moment when CO protein is more stable.
CO (CONSTANS) is a transcription factor thought to be involved in the long-day flowering pathway and is thought to have a regulatory role between the biological clock and flowering. It regulates flowering time through interactions with SOC1 (CO-1 inhibitor), TF1(top flower 1) and FT(flowering site T), and is involved in the biosynthesis of proline and ethylene.
