Description

Arabinogalactan is a polymer composed of arabinose and galactose monosaccharides. They are present in plants in the form of free glycans or attached to rhamnose-galactose I or protein skeletons. When combined with proteins, they form arabinogalactan protein (AGP), which acts as an intercellular signaling molecule. AGP can also be used as an adhesive for plant wounds. Arabinogalactan can be used as a food additive or as a starch substitute in food or pharmaceutical products.
