Affinity purified Agaricomagglutinin (ABA) is a tetramer composed of 2 to 4 isolated proteins. ABA has two distinct carbohydrate binding sites, one is galactose-1, 3-n-acetylgalactosamine and the other is galactose-1, 3-n-acetylglucosamine. Agaricus bisporus has anti-proliferation effect on cancer cells. ABA binding to surface glycoproteins can be internalized by clathrin-coated vesicles, making ABA an inhibitor of signal-dependent protein nuclear input.
