Affinity purified Agaricus bisporus lectin (ABA) is a tetramer composed of 2 ~ 4 segregins.ABA has two distinct carbohydrate binding sites, one for galactose- -1,3- n -acetylgalactosamine and the other for galactose- -1,3- n -acetylglucosamine. Agaricus bisporus has an antiproliferative effect on cancer cells.ABA binding to surface glycoproteins can be internalized by lattice protein-encapsulated vesicles, thus making ABA an inhibitor of signal-dependent protein nuclear input. Agaricus bisporus lectin (ABA/ABL) is labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) in combination with appropriate amounts of fluorescent dyes to provide optimal staining properties for this lectin.FITC affixes have been used in a variety of immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry applications.
