Target Information

Gene Abbr. GPR183
Gene ID 1880
Full Name G protein-coupled receptor 183
Alias EBI2, hEBI2
Introduction G-protein coupled receptor 183 (EBI2) belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family of proteins. It is an orphan seven-transmembrane receptor originally identified as most up-regulated gene (>200-fold) in EBV-infected cells. It plays a central role during humoral immunity. It promotes activated B-cell localization in the outer follicle and interfollicular regions. Its specific expression during B-cell maturation helps position B-cells appropriately for mounting T-dependent antibody responses. It is expressed abundantly in lymphoid tissues such as spleen and lymph node, and in B- and T-lymphocytes. It is also reported to be highly expressed in lung, heart and gastrointestinal tract. EBI2 deficiency in mice led to a reduction in the early antibody response to a T-dependent antigen.
