Target Name | Cytochrome c |
Gene Abbr. | CYCS |
Gene ID | 54205 |
Full Name | cytochrome c, somatic |
Alias | CYC, HCS, THC4 |
Introduction | Cytochrome c is a well conserved electron-transport protein and is part of the respiratory chain localized to mitochondrial intermembrane space. Upon apoptotic stimulation, cytochrome c released from mitochondria associates with procaspase-9 (47 kDa)/Apaf 1. This complex processes caspase-9 from inactive proenzyme to its active form. This event further triggers caspase-3 activation and eventually leads to apoptosis. |

Host | Mouse |
Clonality | Monoclonal |
Clone No. | 7H8.2C12 |
Isotype | IgG2B Kappa |
Immunogen | Synthetic peptides corresponding to amino acids 1-80, 81-104 and 66-104 of pigeon CYT were used as the immunogen (Jemmerson et al. 1991). The antibody recognizes an epitope within amino acids 93-104 of pigeon cytochrome C based on competitive ELISA results (Jemmerson et al. 1991). |
Usage | |
---|---|
Application | WB, FC, IF, IHC |
Dilutions | Western Blot (0.05-0.5 µg/mL); Flow Cytometry (1:20-1:2000); Immunofluorescence (1:10-1:500); Immunohistochemistry (1:10-1:500) |
MW(KDa) | 14 |
Reactivity | Human, Mouse, Rat, D. melanogaster, Rabbit |
Specificity | An approx. 15 kDa band is observed. This antibody recognizes total cytochrome C which includes both apocytochrome (i.e. cytochrome in the cytosol without heme attached) and holocytochrome (i.e cytochrome in the mitochondria with heme attached). |
