Target Information
Target Name COX-1
Gene Abbr. PTGS1
Gene ID 5742
Full Name prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 1
Alias COX1, COX3, PCOX1, PES-1, PGG/HS
Introduction Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase (PTGS), also known as cyclooxygenase, is the key enzyme in prostaglandin biosynthesis, and acts both as a dioxygenase and as a peroxidase. There are two isozymes of PTGS: a constitutive PTGS1 and an inducible PTGS2, which differ in their regulation of expression and tissue distribution. This gene encodes PTGS1, which regulates angiogenesis in endothelial cells, and is inhibited by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin. PTGS1 is thought to be involved in cell-cell signaling and maintaining tissue homeostasis. Alternative splicing of this gene generates two transcript variants. The expression of these two transcripts is differentially regulated by relevant cytokines and growth factors. [provided by RefSeq]

Clone No. 596002
Isotype IgG2B
Immunogen E.coli-derived recombinant human COX-1. Asn381-Leu599. P23219.
Usage
Application WB
Dilutions Western Blot (2 µg/mL)
Reactivity Human, Mouse
Specificity Detects human COX-1 in direct ELISAs and Western Blots. In direct ELISAs, approximately 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) COX-4I1 and no cross-reactivity with rhCOX-1 or rhCOX-4I2 is observed.
